WEAPONS: TO KILL OR TO DIE?

When we have a weapon in house, the car or the store, the most frequent argument is the insecurity, However, we have to ask ourselves if in some cases we are willing to become a criminal believing that is possible to take the public security in our hands. But the true discussion is: Why a person who buy a weapon to hunt, to practice shot or to defend his families could commit a crime?

First of all, is considered that almost 70% of those that acquire weapons make it for prevention or personal defense. Although people believe, they can use weapons in legitimate defense; this is some times false because for this it has to have the same proportionality of the means used to attack to defend. Fr this reason is necessary to know that all weapons produce the same irreversible consequence.

In addition to, a great percentage of people interviewed by the Institute of Criminal Science, said that they felt safer when it’s possible for them to have a weapon near. However there wasn’t correlation between the sense of security and crime rates informed by the same institute where was identificated in the metropolitan area 9 out of 10 people have reported to feeling with high probabilities of being victim of a crime. In fact, only 9.8% have actually suffered.

On the other hand, according data from National Survey of Risk Factors prevalent in 2006 by the health’s ministry, The presence of a gun increases dramatically the risk of being hurt for this reason is difficult to separate the concept of public security of the false idea of security that provides a firearm as a tool of protection.

Finally, having a gun doesn’t solve anything, sometimes, it worsens the situation, through time it has been shown a gun is an element which leads to crime because it cause deaths and suffering.
